New page

===Complex Conjugate===

To put it simply, to take the complex conjugate of something is just to replace <math> j </math> with <math> -j </math>. A star (<math> * </math>) is used to show that the complex conjugate is being taken.

Example 1:
<math> (a+jb)^* = (a-jb) </math>

Notice, it is just the sign of <math> j </math> that changed.

Example 2:
<math> (e^{j\omega})^* = e^{-j\omega} </math>

Example 3:
<math> (cos\omega-j sin\omega)^* = (cos\omega+j sin\omega) </math>
